# Migrate from ClickUp

> How to export your tasks, lists, and workspace data from ClickUp and import them into Knowlix

This guide walks you through migrating your ClickUp data to Knowlix. You can export individual lists and views, or export your entire workspace at once. Make sure you have **admin or owner access** to your ClickUp workspace for workspace-level exports.

## What You Can Migrate

ClickUp organizes work in a hierarchy of Spaces, Folders, Lists, and Tasks. Here is what you can export:

* **Tasks** — all task details including name, description, and status
* **Subtasks** — tasks nested under parent tasks
* **Assignees** — team members assigned to each task
* **Due dates and start dates** — scheduled timelines
* **Custom fields** — any additional fields configured on lists or tasks
* **Statuses** — task progress states (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Done)
* **Time tracked** — if time tracking is enabled in your workspace
* **Tags** — labels applied to tasks

<Note>
  **What does NOT export:** Task comments, attachments, and task history are not included in ClickUp's CSV export. Docs (ClickUp's document feature) also require a separate export process.
</Note>

## Step 1: Export Your Data from ClickUp

ClickUp offers two export methods: exporting a specific **List or Table view**, or exporting **all task data from the entire workspace**.

### Option A: Export a Specific List or Table View

Use this to export tasks from a single list, or a filtered view of tasks.

1. Open the **List** or **Table** view you want to export in ClickUp
2. Click **Customize** in the upper-right corner of the view
3. Click **Export** at the bottom of the Customize panel
4. Choose your export format:
   * **CSV** — recommended for Knowlix import
   * **XLSX** — if you prefer to review the data in Excel first
5. Configure export options:
   * **Columns to include:** Choose *All columns*, *Visible columns*, or *Task names only*
   * **Subtasks:** In List view, set the subtask dropdown to **As separate tasks**; in Table view, toggle on **Showing Subtasks**
   * **Time format (CSV only):** Choose *Normal* (e.g., "2h 30m") or *hh:mm* (e.g., "2:30")
6. Click **Start Export**
7. When the export is ready, click **Download Export**

<Note>
  **Email download links expire after 1 hour.** ClickUp also sends a download link to your email — this link expires after 1 hour, so download it promptly.
</Note>

### Option B: Export All Workspace Data

Use this to get a complete export of all tasks across all Spaces, Folders, and Lists in your workspace.

1. Click your **Workspace avatar** in the bottom-left corner
2. Go to **Settings**
3. In the **All settings** sidebar, click **Imports/Exports**
4. Under the **Exports** section, click **Export Items**
5. Select the data range and format (CSV)
6. Click **Start Export**
7. Download the file when it is ready

### Export Format Guide

| Method                 | Scope                        | Best for                  |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| List/Table view export | Single list or filtered view | Migrating specific lists |
| Workspace export | All tasks in all lists | Full migration to Knowlix |

For a complete migration, use the **Workspace export** to capture everything at once.

## Step 2: Upload to Knowlix

Once you have your CSV files from ClickUp:

1. Go to **Settings > Import** in Knowlix
2. Select **ClickUp** as the source platform
3. Upload your exported CSV file(s)
4. Knowlix will automatically detect your Spaces, Folders, and Lists from the export structure

## Step 3: Review & Confirm

Before the import is finalized, Knowlix shows you a field mapping preview. Here you can:

* Verify that ClickUp columns (e.g., "Task Name", "Status", "Assignee", "Due Date") are correctly matched to Knowlix fields
* Map ClickUp statuses (e.g., "In Progress", "Complete") to the equivalent Knowlix task stages
* Choose how to handle subtasks — as nested items or standalone tasks
* Click **Confirm Import** to start the migration
